At the Faculty of International Relations, the following study programs are accredited in the field of international economic relations at various degrees of study:

 

Bachelor study: International Economic Relations

Study program in the study field of International Economic Relations is represented by teaching units in the total amount of min. 180 credits (ECTS standard). The study program is completed by a state examination, which includes the defense of bachelor thesis.

The graduate of the first degree of the study program International Economic Relations will gain adequate theoretical knowledge of international economics, international politics and international law, emphasising the interdisciplinary concept of international economic relations. Furthermore, the graduate develops knowledge, logical and critical thinking through mathematics, accounting, statistics, international trade, finance and project management. The composition of suitably related subjects guarantees the acquisition of the necessary competencies and skills and their subsequent grading and improvement. In addition, the graduate of the first degree will acquire the skill to communicate professionally in two foreign languages.

First-degree graduates will be able to use general knowledge of the basics of economic, legal and international political disciplines as professionals in companies with global reach in virtually all sectors of the economy, public and state administration, and international companies or embassies of foreign countries. The study program is designed in such a way that the graduate acquires skills that will enable him to communicate with colleagues in practice and at the same time present and defend his project intention. The graduate is a qualified worker at the level of lower and middle management who can apply to the labour market as a member of a work team in a national or international company. Acquired general, professional and language skills are a prerequisite for further study of Economic Diplomacy and related study programs in the second degree of study at Slovak or foreign universities.

The graduate of the study program International Economic Relations obtains level 6 of the Slovak Qualifications Framework.

  • the graduate has general knowledge of economics, international economic relations, international politics and international law,
  • he/she will receive excellent language training.

Qualification framework - skills:

  • the graduate can design, modify and carry out solutions to professional or practical problems in the field of international economics, international politics and international law in a globalized changing social environment,
  • he/she can use appropriate methods to develop qualified analyzes.

Qualification framework – competencies:

  • the graduate is competent in the implementation of his proposals and the performance of the tasks assigned to him by his superiors in the field,
  • he/she will be able to think critically, abstract relevant facts in the issue that will be the subject of his job - especially in the international team or in the national team in cooperation with foreign partners.

Master Study: Economic Diplomacy

The Study program Economic Diplomacy is represented by teaching units in the total amount of 120 credits (ECTS standard). The Study program is completed by a state examination, which includes the defense of diploma thesis.

The graduate of the 2nd degree of the Economic Diplomacy study program has extensive knowledge of the world economy, international politics and international law. He communicates in three foreign languages ​​at a professional level. The portfolio of professional courses is supplemented by specialized elective courses taught in a foreign language, enabling a narrower professional specialization of the graduate in a specific area. During the study, he/she will gain knowledge from other specific areas related to the study program Economic Diplomacy.

Graduates of the second degree of study in the study program Economic Diplomacy can apply the acquired theoretical knowledge in solving specific problems in practice; they have deep knowledge of individual areas of the study program. Based on this knowledge, they are qualified to analyze particular issues of economic diplomacy and apply innovative approaches in international economic relations and critically evaluate the broader context of development trends in the world economy and the involvement and operation of the Slovak Republic in global economic and political processes.

The graduate of the study program Economic Diplomacy acquires level 7 of the Slovak Qualifications Framework.

Qualifications framework - knowledge:

  • the graduate has sufficient knowledge of economics, international economic relations, international politics and international law in the field of international economic relations,
  • the graduate can communicate in three world languages,
  • the graduate is ready for study in the given field in the third-degree program

Qualification framework - skills:

  • the graduate can negotiate, perform and manage processes in the international economic environment in selected foreign languages,
  • the graduate can use appropriate methods in the development of qualified analyzes.

Qualification framework - competencies:

  • the graduate is competent to take competent decisions within the scope of his professional activities and expand and enrich his knowledge and skills with the latest knowledge in the field of international cooperation,
  • is able to apply the acquired knowledge in relation to current processes in the international economic and political environment in their mutual interaction, critically evaluate them and anticipate trends of further development.
