THE CAUSES OF NATIONALIZATION OF THE SUEZ CANAL COMPANY
The Slovak Journal of International Relations is an interdisciplinary scientific journal of international political, economic, cultural, and legal relations, published by the Faculty of International Relations at the University of Economics in Bratislava, Slovakia. It is published biannually, always in March and September. Papers are to be submitted by March 15 and September 15 of each year. All papers undergo a double-blind peer review process by at least two referees.
The Slovak Journal of International Relations (ISSN 1336-1562 print, ISSN 1339-2751 online) is registered with the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic (EV 4785/13). The journal is currently covered by ProQuest, EBSCO, EconPapers, RePEc, EconBiz, and Index Copernicus databases. The goal of the editorial board is to increase the impact of the journal and the number of databases covering the journal.
This is an open access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles published in the journal. Material published in the Slovak Journal of International Relations / Medzinárodné vzťahy is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0. Interantional (CC BY 4.0). The Slovak Journal of International Relations on behalf of the Editorial Board holds all copyright and publishing rights.
The Slovak Journal of International Relations wishes to publish high-quality original scientific papers, discussions, surveys, short communications and book reviews from the field of international economic, political, legal and cultural relations. The topics of published papers include, but are not limited to:
- history of international economic relations
- international trade
- international investment
- international migration
- current international economic issues
- current international political issues
- analysis of current and past conflicts
- intercultural relations
- international trade law
- public international law
From 2023, the Slovak Journal of International Relations publishes papers only in English.

The entire publishing process of The Slovak Journal of International Relations follows the ethical principles that are normally expected from this type of publication. Authors, by submitting an article to the editorial board, agree to go through a regular editorial process, including a review process. At the same time, they honestly declare that the article was not, and in the case of its acceptance, will not be offered to the publication elsewhere. The editorial board reviews articles exclusively on the basis of their scientific quality and compliance with the scope of the journal. There is no legal right to publish an article in the Slovak Journal of International Relations (Medzinárodné vzťahy).
Author's Ethics
The author, who has submitted an article to the Slovak Journal of International Relations, honestly declares that:
- the article is the result of his creative scientific activity (all submitted articles will undergo the process of plagiarism check via Crossref Similarity Check),
- has a publication right from all co-authors to deal with the article,
- agrees with the editorial process of the Journal of International Relations and publication of the article, including the incorporation of the article in all databases in which the Slovak Journal of International Relations (Medzinárodné vzťahy) is covered or will be covered in the future,
- the article was not accepted and will not be offered for publication elsewhere,
- the list of authors of the article includes all persons who have played a significant contribution role,
- the list of authors of the article does not include persons who have not significantly contributed to it,
- the article correctly lists all quotes and does not contain passages and thoughts without mentioning the source,
- the content of the article is based on actual research,
- article states sources of research funding in case if contribution was generated within the funding,
- none of the authors is in conflict with the content of the article in a conflict of interest.
Reviewer’s Ethics
The reviewer commits:
- to evaluate articles objectively, solely on the basis of their scientific quality,
- accept the fact that reviews are anonymous from both sides,
- keep the content of the reviewed articles secret,
- make reviews personally and without unnecessary delay.
Editor's Code of Ethics
The editor commits:
- to receive articles on a non-discriminatory basis from all authors,
- evaluate whether the articles delivered meet the formal and content criteria, whether they are in line with the scope of the journal and, in the event of a negative evaluation, inform the authors without undue delay,
- keep the contents of the delivered articles in secret,
- send an article in the specified deadlines to at least two reviewers who are not in close contact with the authors, while maintaining the anonymity of the authors,
- without undue delay to inform the authors about the outcome of the review process while maintaining reviewers' anonymity,
- to include the articles received in the nearest available edition of the journal, taking into account its content balance.
How to prepare an article for the Slovak Journal of International Relations
- Edit the paper according to template.
- Print, sign and scan your declaration of originality.
- Check whether the article explicitly shows its objectives, methods, results and contributions.
- Make sure the article contains an abstract, keywords, and JEL classification.
- Make sure you use the name-year citation method (Lipkova 2011, p. 145).
- Submit the article together with the declaration of originality to the editorial office ().
Issue frequency
The Slovak Journal of International Relations contains two issues annually:
- Issue: editorial deadline is 15th of September
- Issue: editorial deadline is 15th of March
Editorial procedures and publishing ethics
All contributions that will be delivered to the editorial office () before the editorial deadline will be included to double-blind peer review process. It is assumed that manuscripts have not yet been published or submitted for publishing elsewhere. The author is responsible for the formal and scientific accuracy of the paper. There is no legal claim to the publication of a journal article. The author is committed to adhere the publishing ethics. The authors are advised to follow the template, otherwise the article will be returned for adaptation which may result in its delayed publication.
Length of the paper
Papers should retain a range of 15-25 pages of B-5 format while maintaining the required formatting. We encourage authors to use a template. Articles that do not conform to the required formatting will be returned for adaptation.
The editorial board also accepts book review of 2-4 pages.
Paper requirements
Each article must clearly identify the research objectives, methods, results and contributions of research. We do not accept articles without unambiguous scientific added value. The recommended structure of the article can be downloaded here: Structure of the scientific article
Each paper must also include:
- abstract and keywords in English language
- 1-3 JEL classification codes of the American Economic Association
- correct determination of all grants and programs with which the article originated
- full name, titles, address, and e-mail of all authors
Submit a paper
Send an article in English language in MS Word (old and new versions) by e-mail to . The preferred file name is Last Name - Article title. From October 15, 2022, we accept articles only in English. Manuscripts in English will be included to the review process and may be published in the first issue of the journal in 2023.
Articles delivered between September 16th and December 15th will be included in the review process for inclusion to the first issue. Articles delivered between March 16th and June 15th will be included to the second issue.
There is no necessity to submit a printed version of the article.
In addition to the article, it is necessary to send a signed and scanned declaration of originality. All submitted articles will undergo the process of plagiarism check via the Crossref Similarity Check anti-plagiarism tool, which is a tool of iThenticate.
Next steps
Upon receipt of the contribution to the editorial office, the executive editor will review the content and formalities of the article and return it to the author for completion if needed. An anonymous review process will take place in the first month after the closing of editorial deadline – each article will be submitted for review by two reviewers. The review process takes approximately 4-6 weeks. Based on the outcome of the review process, the article will be accepted for publication, returned to the author for prompt completion or rejected. The articles will be published in both the printed and online versions of the journal in March or December. Each author has a claim for one printed copy of the issue without further purchase. Submitting and publishing the article is free of charge.
